Game Guide
5 Card
A fast rummy-style game — melt your hand, dodge the penalty points.
Be the player with the FEWEST points when someone crosses the agreed point limit. You score points for cards left stuck in your hand at the end of each round, so the goal every round is to get rid of your cards before your opponents do.
- 1
Deal 5 cards to each player. Place the rest face-down as the stock and flip the top card to start the discard pile.
- 2
On your turn, draw one card — either the top of the face-down stock or the top of the discard pile.
- 3
Try to form sets (three or four of a kind) and runs (three or more cards in sequence of the same suit).
- 4
Discard one card face-up to end your turn, keeping your hand at five cards.
- 5
Play passes clockwise, with each player drawing and discarding in turn.
- 6
As soon as your remaining cards all belong to valid sets or runs, you can "go out" by discarding your last loose card.
- 7
The round ends the moment a player goes out; everyone else is caught with cards in hand.
- 8
Tally the penalty points still held by each player, then deal the next round.
Number cards are worth their face value (a 7 = 7 points).
Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points each.
Aces are worth 1 point (or 15 if your family plays high aces — agree before you start).
The player who went out scores 0 for the round.
Everyone adds up the cards left in their hand — those points are added to their running total.
Lowest cumulative total wins once any player reaches the point limit.
- 1
Tap New Game and add every player at the table.
- 2
Set the point limit your family plays to (100 is a common target).
- 3
After each round, open the round entry and type each player's penalty points — enter 0 for whoever went out.
- 4
ScoreTabz keeps the running totals and live standings, and crowns the lowest score as the winner when the limit is reached.
